Abstract

Analyzing the positive and negative effects of contemporary entertainment on middle-aged individuals from the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence is a challenging and necessary topic due to the significant changes it brings to individuals' personalities at this age. The aim of this research is to analyze the effects of entertainment and provide solutions from the viewpoint of Islamic jurisprudence for its optimal use. The results of the research, using a descriptive-analytical method, indicate that entertainment can assist middle-aged individuals in resolving crises such as better evaluation of the past and improving physical abilities. Some positive effects of entertainment include relaxation, joy, distraction from tedious matters, and the release of disruptive emotions. According to jurisprudential teachings, entertainment must be permissible and should not divert an individual from their important goals; furthermore, it should not lead to prohibited matters or harm health. From the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence, engaging in permissible entertainment is one of the fundamental components of a wise life, and neglecting to allocate time for it is not only an irrational and disliked behavior but can also lead to neglecting religious obligations and social responsibilities. Therefore, permissible and lawful entertainment in the lives of middle-aged individuals can, in some cases, be considered a religious obligation.
