Abstract

Islamic education has different areas, of which religious education is one of the most important.  Beliefs form part of the religion of Islam and are the basis of other parts of Islam. A person remains subservient and bound by moral precepts, rules and worships if he has a perfect and correct belief. Ideological education or pedagogy is the process of teaching beliefs to the trainee. It involves a set of actions to shape the belief system, persuasion and stimulation and a commitment by the instructor. It is not possible to teach beliefs and doctrines without observing kindness and tolerance, in which case it may have the opposite effect. What is done in religious education is related to the insight, intellectual persuasion and creating the tendency and acceptance of the trainee. It is natural that any action in line with this objective should be free from any imposition and pressure and should be accompanied by kindness and tolerance. This article seeks to answer the question, "What is the role of parents in educating their children about respect and tolerance?" And is the ruling of compassion and tolerance in the view of the holy Shariʿa of Islam in the doctrinal education obligatory or recommended? This research conducted based on a descriptive, analytical and inferential method with reliance on textual sources proves that parents should observe friendliness and tolerance in the religious education of their children. Compassion and tolerance in education do not inherently conflict with a degree of assertiveness in some stages of education. The foremost principle to observe is to have softness and flexibility despite firmness and sticking to the rules
